TIP2013: Good start for the DOST-ASTI

BeFunky_TIP_banner.jpgStarting the year right, the Department of Science and Technology – Advanced Science and Technology Institute Director Denis F. Villorente and Supervising Science Research Specialist  Bayani Benjamin R. Lara represented the Philippines in the TIP2013 Joint Conference in Honolulu, Hawaii last 13 – 18 January 2013.

With the aim of addressing research and education network-related concerns, the Asia Pacific Advanced Network and Joint Techs haveconceptualized the TIP2013. The TIP2013 was a three (3)-day conference among technical people from the Asia-Pacific region that provided new learning experiences to the participants through workshops and tutorials.

The conference served as a venue for the discussion of the following: (1) network research and emerging technologies; (2) network architecture and operations; and (3) research and education network applications, which are all important in the field of the Philippine Research, Education and Government Information Network.

Facilitators of the event included Mr. Francis Lee Bu Sung, Mr. Brian Tierney, and Mr. Scott Brim for the discussion of network research and emerging technologies and Mr. Yasuichi Kitamura, Mr. Mike Bennett, and Mr. Paul Schopis for network architecture. While the discussants on the topic of research and education network applications were Mr. Koji Okamuram, Mr. Ezra Kissel, and Mr. Eli Dart / Ms. Lauren Rotman.
