PREGINET to join the 5th Internet Governance Forum

5th Internet Governance ForumThe Philippine Research, Education and Government Information Network (PREGINET) will remotely join the 5th Internet Governance Forum (IGF) via webstreaming from September 14 to 17, 2010.

The local venue will be at the Commission on Information Communications Technology (CICT) while the main forum will take place in Vilnius, Lithuania. The remote sessions are organized to allow wider participation of other country stakeholders.

“IGF 2010 Developing the FutureTogether” is the chosen theme for this year reflecting the “open and inclusive nature of the IGF with its multilateral, multi-stakeholder, democratic and transparent approach to discussions of Internet-related public policy issues.”

Said forum is organized by the Advanced Science and Technology Institute (ASTI) and sponsored by the Asia Pacific Network Information Center (APNIC), National Computer Center (NCC), and CICT.

IGF is an event established by the United Nations that promotes multi-stakeholder dialogue regarding public policies related to Internet Governance. It also serves as an avenue for exchange of ideas, creation of feedback loops, and an opportunity to to share best practices and experiences on internet governance.
