Advanced Routing BGP IPv4/IPv6 Workshop participantsThe Philippine Research, Education and Government Information Network (PREGINET), the only research and education network  in the Philippines, consistently participates in different IPv6 workshops and trainings across the world, to enhance knowledge on the field.

Recently, the PREGINET, represented by Science Research Specialist II Alvin M. de Gracia, participated in the Advanced Routing BGP IPv4/IPv6 Workshop at Shinawatra University Bangkok, Viphavadi-Rangsit Road, Thailand from 30 July 2012 to 03 August 2012.

The Trans-Eurasia Information Network 3 (TEIN3), together with the Internet Education and Research Laboratory (intERLab/AIT), organized this five (5)-day technical workshop, particularly, for technical staff involved in the operation of large scale networks with international and/or multi-provider connectivity, or having Internet Exchange point connectivity.

The workshop served as a venue for enhancing technical staff’s knowledge and skills on IGP and BGP IPv4/IPv6 which are being used for configuration and operation of large scale networks. Dr. Philip Smith, Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC) Learning and Development Director, discussed and demonstrated the Routing Protocols (BGP, ISIS, OSPF, IPv6), ISP Network Design and Operations Best Practices, IPv6 Background and Standards, IPv6 Addressing and IPv6 Deployment to the participants.

The participants in said workshop included technical staff, who were knowledgeable on IGP (OSPF or ISIS) and BGP fundamentals, on using a router command line interface, and on doing  basic router configuration.
