PREGINET ensures audience participation in a forum on Social and Institutional Change

Live StreamingThe Philippine Research, Education and Government Information Network (PREGINET) ensured that audiences, including experts, from University of the Philippines (UP) campuses across the nation, could participate over the Internet, in an event titled, “Understanding Complex Dynamical Systems: A Forum on Social and Institutional Change,” which was organized by the UP Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs last 20 September 2013 at the National Institute of Physics Auditorium, National Science Complex, UP Diliman, Quezon City.

Several UP scholars and academists came up with this forum to assess the level of knowledge on the complex dynamics of change in the physical and biological worlds, as well as, to find out how this concept relates to their understanding on the change process happening in human society and institutions.

Indeed, the forum served as a venue for discussion on the literary practice of complexity, common framework for the study of social and institutional change, culture, complexity and change, among others.  Moreover, learnings from this event were seen to contribute “in making UP a more effective catalyst in transforming Philippine society and culture.”

Speakers of the event included Mr. Niceto S. Poblador, Professorial Lecturer in Management in Kalayaan Colleges and Professor of Management in Holy Angel University, Ms. Gisela P. Concepcion, Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Mr. Jose Neil C. Garcia, UP Press Director, Mr. Ernesto M. Pernia, Professor of Economics in UP, and Mr. Felipe P. Jocano, Jr., Assistant Professor of  Anthropology in UP.
